Trendy Designer’s Handmade Handbags Blend Style and Function Everett, WA— Jennifer Hudson is celebrating her second year as the owner of a home based online business. Taterberry-Cottage.com was the beginning of the talented designer’s exclusive creations. Her Alex & Ari Designs line was recently renamed Mimsi Bags, and has its own website at Mimsi-Bags.com. “I love perusing my favorite fabric stores for inspiration,” stated Hudson. Hudson says her two young daughters already have a flair for combining fabric and patterns. “I particularly enjoy personalizing a customer’s bag to meet their needs,” Hudson said. She suggests fabrics, styles, and sizes to carry anything from business folders to baby paraphernalia. At the shopper’s request, Hudson will construct effortless closures, assemble extra pockets, or include other special features. Hudson says women enjoy having all their essentials in an easily accessible custom handbag.
The various fabrics and material allow her designs to evolve. Hudson uses 100% nylon yarn to make some bags. She says the yarn makes attractive and durable handbags. Hudson is currently working with wool and hand dyed yarns and a felting process that will produce a unique appearance. “The wool changes when it is felted,” Hudson declared. “Although it starts out quite fragile, the end fabric is strong and even able to withstand washing,” she added.
Mimsi-Bags.com also features accessories created by several of Hudson’s artistic friends. A line of chiffon scarves and velvet wraps from Designs by Carollee and radiant jewelry from Jules Jewelry compliment her hand bags beautifully.
